About Course

Program Description – Overview

At the core of the IHPOP High School program is the belief that we can provide a solid foundation for students who are interested in pursuing further academic studies in a North American secondary school.

This is a program for young learners to improve not only their English skills but also the skills necessary to successfully navigate a different learning environment.  The program offers communicative and student-centered online classes that give opportunities to practice the language as well as the opportunity to learn about studying in North America. Lessons will be delivered both online, with face-to-face instructor interaction and also with independent “self-study” materials provided by the instructor.

 Admission Requirements

The program is for students aged 13 to 17 years of age. Students must be of a B1 (intermediate) level or higher.

 Required Textbooks

There will be no need for students to purchase textbooks. All materials will be provided by IH Vancouver/IH San Diego, in accordance with proper photocopying protocols. Materials will also be created by IH staff.

 Equipment and other materials required:

Students will need basic equipment to access the online classes as well as basic school supplies:  pen, pencil, and notebook paper.

 Program Duration

There are 4 subjects of study: science, English, math, and Language Arts. Each subject has 3 weeks worth of material. The subjects will be addressed in a weekly rotation. There will also be an orientation week, during which students will become familiar with the program outline, the goals of the program, and other general information.

 Homework Hours

Students are expected to do up to 6 hours of homework per week.

 Delivery Method:

The IHPOP High School program is delivered entirely online.
